Pricing

Trix pricing overview, free tier details, and guidance on estimating costs for your application.

Free Tier

Get started with Trix at no cost. The free tier includes enough capacity to build and test your integration, and to run small production workloads.

1,000 Memories

Store up to 1,000 memories. Each memory can be up to 50 KB of text content.

5,000 Searches / month

Run up to 5,000 semantic search queries per month across your spaces.

100 Credits / month

Credits cover enrichment operations like topic extraction, entity detection, and relationship mapping.

The free tier also includes 3 spaces, 3 API keys, and 2 webhooks. No credit card required to sign up.

No surprise charges. The free tier has hard limits, not soft caps. If you exceed a limit, requests are rejected with a clear error — you will not be billed unexpectedly.

Estimating Costs

Understanding how Trix usage maps to billing helps you estimate costs for your application. Here is how the main billing dimensions work:

Memories

A memory is a single piece of stored information. Each call to POST /v1/memories creates one memory. Memories persist until you delete them — they count toward your plan's storage limit for as long as they exist.

Rule of thumb: If your AI assistant stores one memory per user message, a user who sends 50 messages per day generates roughly 1,500 memories per month.

Search Queries

Each call to GET /v1/memories?q=... counts as one search query. If your application retrieves context before every LLM call, your search count will roughly equal your LLM call count.

Rule of thumb: A chatbot that serves 100 active users, each sending 20 messages per day, would use approximately 60,000 search queries per month.

Credits

Credits are consumed by enrichment operations that run on your memories. Basic storage and search are covered by the memory and search query limits. Credits cover additional processing like:

  • Topic and entity extraction
  • Sentiment analysis
  • Relationship detection between memories
  • Audio transcription

If you do not use enrichment features, you will not consume credits beyond the baseline included in your plan.

Choosing a Plan

For most developers getting started, the free tier is sufficient for development and testing. Consider upgrading when you need:

  • More than 1,000 stored memories
  • More than 5,000 searches per month
  • More than 3 spaces (for multi-tenant applications with many users) — paid plans include unlimited spaces
  • Higher rate limits (free tier allows 60 requests per minute)

See trixdb.com/pricing for a full comparison of all plans.
